The Smurfs

             My rating: ****-
The lovable blue little creatures are back in the smash hit movie, The Smurfs. With voice talents of Katy Perry and George Lopez, the smurfs are chased out of smurfville into NYC! And by your's truly, Gargamel! In the Big Apple, the smurfs meet two regular old New Yorkers and practically invade their home, go to work, make a scene at the toy store, and much more just to make sure they don't get caught by Gargamel while trying to get back home. This is a great film that the whole family will enjoy! This is filled with tons of comedy, snippets of suspense and sadness, and moments full of emotion.

PIE by Sarah Weeks

My rating : *****

The book PIE is a very interesting and entertaining mystery about ( It's in the title!) pies. But not just any pies, but the most famous pies in the small town of Ipswitch. It's about a young Alice's beloved aunt, Polly, the queen of pies, who has passed away and gave her signature pie recipes to Alice along with her beloved cat, Lardo. But does she really give Alice the pie recipes? The story contains something about a fat cat, some vegetable shortening, a cat-napper, some sleeping powder, and it's all baked up in this wonderful yet fairly odd book, PIE!

I definetley recommend this book to a reader with a soft spot for mysteries and who's willing to explore. The author, Sarah Weeks has done an excellent job capturing a glimpse of what life might be like for a pie-baking master's relatives. This book even has 14 real pie recipes including key lime, coconut cream, home time favorite apple, and many more.
